We are happy to introduce the Natanis Women’s Golf Association’s new league. This league will be known as the Natanis Women’s Golf Association Senior Travel League (NWGA-STL).
The objective of this league is to host events, at various course in Maine, that promote a friendly competition for senior women golfers. The definition of “Senior”, for the purposes of this league, is any women who is 50 or turning 50 by July 1st of any given year.
Membership requirements are that ladies must be a senior, as described above, live in Maine part of the year, and maintain a certified GHIN # at a Maine golf course. The league is limited to the first ninety-six (96) senior women golfers who apply and pay the membership fee. A wait list will begin with the 97th entry (No fee needed). Membership runs from April 1st to March 31st, of the following year.
The annual dues shall be established by NWGA Executive Committee, payable before April 1st of each year. Membership fee deadline is April 30th, of any given year. Failure to meet deadline will result in loss of your position on the list of ninety-six (96) allowed members and the wait list will be active. Annual dues are $25.00, payable via PayPal on the NWGA-STL website.
Sign-up for weekly events is via Golf Genius invitation, emailed to all league members. Sign-up opens at 6:00 am twelve days (12) in advance of any event. Sign-up will close sixty hours (60) later at 6:00 pm ten days (10) in advance of any event. Invitation emails will be sent at 6:00 am on the day sign-up opens.
The Tournament Coordinator (TC) will be present at all events to manage check-in, scoring, questions, and issues. NWGA TC, Charlotte Cole, has agreed to work as a volunteer.
The TC will set up an 18-week schedule. Schedule will begin in mid-May and end in mid-September, and contain stroke play, 2 Ball Best Ball, Best Ball of 4, and a Scramble. We will play at 9- hole or 18-hole courses within two hours of Waterville, Maine. Event day is Wednesday, when at all possible, unless a course prefers another day. Start time of 8 or 9 am via tee times or shotgun start (course choice). The TC will negotiate, for the best, greens fee from each course.
The NWGA-STL will play by USGA Rules. To facilitate a better pace of play this league will operate with three, USGA suggested, local rules; 1) a preferred lie, in your own fairway, of one scorecard length 2) a stroke limit of ten (10) on every hole; 3) USGA “E-5 Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds” which is a two (2) stroke penalty (See NWGA website's home page for USGA video explanation).
Weekly entry fee includes: $5 tournament fee, $3 admin fee (total of $8), variable green fees (set by host course). Payment, in CASH, will be made at check-in on date of the event. You can reserve a cart at sign-up. If the cart isn't included in the green fees, then payment will be made to the course or TC on event day. Weekly cost, for each event, will appear on the league schedule. Cancelation must be before 48-hours of event start time (1st tee time), by calling or texting the TC (207-872-1923), at no charge to member. Failure to show-up or cancelation after the 48-hour window will result a fine. This fine amount will be determined by the courses decision to charge STL for a full field or not. The member will not be allowed to play an event until the fine is paid.
NWGA-STL does expect all members to abide by our Code of Conduct.
Code of Conduct:
1. We will act like ladies treating course employees and other participants with respect and courtesy.
2. Bulling in a pairing is not allowed, if a rules question cannot be settled within your pairing the player is required to play 2 balls and get a ruling, from TC, before signing the scorecard. Failure to do so will result in a 2-stroke penalty and possibly subsequent discipline.
Tournament Coordinator and/or the Executive Committee will deal with complaints. Violator’s will be subject to one (1) warning, then suspensions of 1 event, 3 events, current season, or permanently. The Executive committee will notify the violator in writing.
